Safari Overview

This 5 day/4 night safari to the Skeleton Coast & Sossusvlei is perfect for those seeking adventure.

An early start this morning with pick up around 6h40 from your accommodation. Transfer from Windhoek to Swakopmund is by a local shuttle and estimated to take arund 5hours. On arrival in Swakopmund you will be dropped at Amanpuri Travellers Lodge, your home for the next 2 nights. After settling in, rab some lunch and enjoy some free time, or an optional activity such as quadbiking or skydiving, or rather wander the small town on foot. Return to Amanpuri late afternoon to meet your tour group, and head out for dinner (included) to Hafeni’s Cultural Restaurant, a great chance to try some Namibian delicacies. Overnight in twin share rooms with en-suite bathrooms. (D)

A full day today to enjoy a range of optional activities that the Skeleton Coast has to offer. For adrenaline junkies, this could be flying down a sand dune on a sand board, or for those that prefer something a bit more relaxing it could be a living desert tour, kayaking with the seals, a dophin cruise, or a trip up to Cape Cross to see one of the worlds largest seal colonies. Whatever you choose, enjoy the your last day in Swakopmund before your adventure to Sossusvlei. Overnight in twin share rooms with en-suite bathrooms. (B)

Departure this morning is from 8h00 and we then make our way south to the port town of Walvis Bay where we stop in at the lagoon, a great chance to meet the flamingos, and learn more about this important wetland site. We then drive through the Namib Desert via the Kuiseb Pass and Solitaire, arriving at our camp late afternoon and we can set up our tents and enjoy the sunset. Pool and bar available. Dinner prepared by our guide and an early night is recommended. (BLD)

A pre-dawn departure from camp this morning means that we can enjoy the dunes at first light whilst the temperatures are still cool. We drive down an ancient river bed surrounded by towering dunes, making our first stop at the famous Dune 45, where we can climb to the top and enjoy the sunrise. On descent, enjoy some breakfast, before continuing on to the 2x4 parking (around 55kms) and taking a 4x4 shuttle into the Sossusvlei area to appreciate the beauty of this place in early morning light and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the region. We explore this unique area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colours before taking the 4x4 shuttle back to our vehicle. We return to Sesriem for lunch and a swim and late afternoon we visit the nearby Sesriem Canyon, one of the few permanent water sources in the area. Overnight camping, with dinner prepared by our guide. (BLD)

A leisurely start this morning allows us to have a cooked breakfast and hit the road no later than 9am. From Sesriem, we head back to Windhoek, travelling around the Naukluft Mountains. We aim to arrive back in Windhoek no later than 2pm, ensuring sufficient time for those wishing to travel onwards. No flights recommended before 17h00. (B)
