Are You The Right Type Of Person

Our safaris offer an experience whereby you need a flexible, open-minded approach to appreciate the value of being in Africa. Not everything goes according to plan or happens when it is supposed to, this is part of the appeal and beauty of this great continent. On some trips we’ll push you out of your comfort zone, or maybe rough it for a night or two, to ensure that you get the real experience this could even mean sleeping in a park with wild animals around and no security of a fence for protection. If you feel this is not to your sense of adventure then you may wish to consider another trip/company.

.Our scheduled safaris are conducted on the basis of limited participation. When on an accommodated safari you may be required to wash up your own plates after meals but that is about all. When camping you are required to erect and dismantle your tent. All other camp chores will be dealt with by your guide and camp assistant by any assistance you can offer is always appreciated.

.On camping safaris, all camping equipment is supplied EXCEPT sleeping bags. These can be hired for N$25.00 per night. The tents are 2 man dome tents with full mosquito netting with flysheet, and the mattress is 6cm thick high density foam.

.On safari meals are provided as per the itinerary (B=breakfast, L=lunch, D=dinner). All other meals, snacks and drinks must be supplied by you.

.PASSPORTS must be carried with you at all times whilst on safari and in the vehicle. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your safari finishes/you leaving the country. You may not be allowed into Namibia if your passport does not have the required 6 months, or at least 2 blank pages and Chameleon cannot accept any responsibility or refund on a safari in this scenario.

.We do not restrict the age of our clients. However, you must be “young at heart”, have a reasonable level of fitness and willing to be part of a group tour. Children are welcome on our scheduled safaris but need to be well travelled and under the strict supervision of the parents/guardian. Different age minimums apply depending on the type and length of the safari. Contact us for more information.

.SINGLE SUPPLEMENT is not charged on CAMPING SAFARIS. If you single and travelling alone, you will be asked you to share with another single traveller of the same sex. If there is no other single traveller of the same sex you will not have to share.

.SINGLE SUPPLEMENT is only charged on ACCOMMODATED SAFARIS where a single room is requested. For those single travellers that are willing to share we will do our best to match you with another single traveller of the same sex. If there is no other single traveller of the same sex you will not have to share, and will not pay any extra!

.PERSONAL TRAVEL INSURANCE is not included but is compulsory when booking with Chameleon. Please consult your travel agent prior to leaving home or check the link on our website to World Nomad Insurance.

.TAP WATER is safe to drink almost everywhere in Namibia. Whilst on safari your guide will advise when the drinking water is not safe, alternatively you can buy bottled water at your own expense.

.We will pick you up from your accommodation on the day of departure within the city limits. You must be ready at least 45 minutes prior to your safari departure.

.HEALTH – Malaria does occur in parts of Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. Please consult your physician prior to leaving home or email us for more information. Your physician may also recommend other injections for your travel and advice should be sought.

.CURRENCY – used in Namibia is the Namibian Dollar and the South African Rand which work in conjunction/same rate as each other. Credit cards are widely accepted at ATM’s. Travellers cheques can be difficult and expensive to change, even in major towns. It is advisable to carry a limited amount of cash with you, and most accommodation/restaurants and activity operators accept credit cards, either VISA or MasterCard.

.CLIMATE – Winter is the dry season between May to September with temperatures between 0c at night to 25c daytime. Summer brings much hotter weather and the rains which can occur anytime between October and April, temperatures 15c night to 35c or higher in some regions during the day.

.VISA REQUIREMENTS – Some nationalities require visas for Namibia and Botswana. Please check with your agent or our office when booking your safari to check if these requirements apply to you. Visas are your own responsibility, persons arriving without the relevant visa for their safari will not be refunded in this scenario.

.ZAMBIAN VISAS – Visas can be arranged in advance through your nearest Zambian Embassy/Consulate, however they are also easily arranged on arrival in Zambia either at the border or airports. Please note that payment in US Dollars is preffered. Please contact us for current rates.
