This unique programme combines teaching some of Namibia’s children most in need of education as well as the opportunity to work hands on at an animal sanctuary, in the heart of Africa. You will spend up to four days of each week assisting the teacher at N/a’an ku sê and Clabile’s Clever Cubs school. The school provides vital free education to the San Bushman children whose parents work at the sanctuary and who would otherwise not have access to education. The number of children attending changes frequently with around 25, aged between 1 and 15 currently attending.

Additionally, we are also looking for 1 volunteer to assist at a small childrens’ home in Windhoek. For more information, click here

Medical Volunteer Programme

During the project you will spend your time at a remote San Bushman clinic in rural east Namibia, the village homes around 500 San and Herero villagers and the clinic is at the heart of the community. Here, you will assist the doctor and nurse with the running of the Lifeline Clinic and help provide primary healthcare to the local community. You will provide hands on support at the clinic, participating in observations, running reception and helping in the dispensary. You will deal closely with patients from the local San community, learn more about their way of life and give care to patients living in extreme poverty at the clinic’s remote location.

Elephant & Human Relations Aid Project

This project takes you to the northwestern regions of the Namib Desert, traditionally known as ‘Damaraland’. This harsh tribal wilderness area, runs parallel to the Skeleton Coast National Park, and is home to a small population of desert-adapted elephants. The first week of the project will see you working with the local subsistence farmers, building protective walls around their water points, and teaching them the skills needed in managing the conflict with the resident elephant populations. The following week is spent assisting the staff of the project in following and monitoring the movements of elephants on patrol, camping wild and living close to the earth, elephants and the people.
