Daan Viljoen Game Park lies just outside Windhoek in the Khomas Hochland, making it one of the easiest places to enjoy a guided hike in Namibia’s dry highland bushveld without a long drive. After collection in Windhoek, we travel west of the city to the park and begin the walk with your guide through open hills, dry riverbeds and acacia-covered valleys.
This is a walking experience rather than a game drive, so the pace is slower and more focused on the details you might miss from a vehicle. Daan Viljoen is known for highland species such as giraffe, zebra, kudu, oryx, springbok and other antelope, as well as good birdlife. Your guide will help identify tracks, plants and animals along the way, while explaining how wildlife survives in this dry landscape so close to the capital.
The hike is active but relaxed, suited to travellers who want to stretch their legs and experience nature on foot near Windhoek. After the walk, there is time for photographs and a short break before we return to Windhoek for drop-off in central Windhoek.
