New Visa Requirements for Tourists Visiting Namibia

From 1 April 2025 youmay need a visa to enter Namibia

Starting April 1, 2025, Namibia will introduce new visa requirements for travelers from several countries. While many visitors can still obtain a Visa on Arrival at major entry points, we highly recommend applying online in advance to avoid delays, especially as this is a new system.

it is crucial to select the correct visa type when applying. Some travelers have mistakenly applied for the Holiday Visa instead of the Visa on Arrival. Even if the incorrect visa is approved and paid for, it will not be valid for entry, causing unnecessary complications upon arrival.

To avoid issues, double-check which visa type your nationality requires before submitting your application. The online visa application can be completed via the official portal: https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na/visaonarrival.

Key Points:

  • Who Needs a Visa? Travelers from countries that have not reciprocated Namibia’s visa exemption policy must apply.
  • Where to Get One? Available online or at selected ports of entry, including Hosea Kutako International Airport and various land borders.
  • Visa Fees: Around NAD 1,600 (~USD 90) for non-African countries and NAD 1,200 (~USD 70) for African nations.

Even if you are from a country eligible for a visa on arrival. We strongly recommend applying online in advance. As this is a new system, delays at immigration are highly likely—applying beforehand ensures a faster, hassle-free arrival. Avoid unnecessary waiting and uncertainty by securing your visa ahead of time.
