After a generous rainy season, Namibia has been transformed.

We know the words rainy season usually put people off travelling, but in Namibia, this means something incredibly special. Travellers on our Etosha Tours experience once-in-a-decade game viewings as the pan fills with water and flocks of coastal flamingoes travel to the pan to breed.

After almost ten years of ongoing drought, the 2020/2021 rainy season has transformed Namibia from a spectacular desert landscape to an unbelievable desert oasis.  If you were lucky enough to be on one of our Sossusvlei Tours and Safaris during the raining season this year you would have seen the iconic Sossusvlei full of water – an unusual and wonderful expereince.

Now lush green grass covers the plains, rivers flow through the heart of the Namib Desert, wild lilies sprung up from nowhere to create a field of dreams, and salt pans transformed into enormous lakes attracting thousands of migratory birds such as pelicans and flamingos. It’s time to travel to Namibia now, just to witness these once in ten-year rain events for yourself!
