Safari Description

This 3 hour tour will give you an overview of modern day Windhoek while you get to know the comprehensive history of Windhoek and Namibia from colonial era to today.
We visit the Christ Church, Ink Palace, Parliament Gardens, and the Old Fort. From the city centre we then drive to the Katutura Township. Katatura is Windhoek’s informal settlement and estimated to be home to more than two thirds of Windhoek’s 325,000 people. The township is a vibrant and exciting place to visit and a great chance to get a bit of insight into some of the more traditional Namibian cultures.

Full Itinerary

This three-hour tour introduces both central Windhoek and Katutura, giving you context for the city’s colonial history, independence-era changes and everyday urban life today. In the city centre, we visit key landmarks such as Christuskirche, the Alte Feste, Parliament Gardens and the Tintenpalast area.

From there, we continue to Katutura, Windhoek’s largest township area and an important part of the city’s social and cultural life. Stops may include Oshetu Community Market, formerly known as the Single Quarters, where kapana and other local foods are prepared and sold. This gives a practical introduction to local food culture rather than just a drive-through view of the area.

We may also visit Penduka, a women-focused social enterprise known for handmade crafts, skills development and training. After time in Katutura, we return to central Windhoek and drop you at your accommodation in central Windhoek.
